BIO

I was raised in an artist’s household in the Midwest but was never considered an artist more of a traveling soul. After early graduation from high school, I traveled. Living in Miami, Washington DC, NYC, Vermont, Jamaica, California and Pennsylvania where I enjoyed life with different cultures and adventures. After traveling I decided I needed to take what I had learned from my experiences and find a career for my future. Lincoln, Nebraska was the best place to find my path and is also close to my family and friends.

Upon my return to Lincoln I dove into my creative side, painting, drawing, taking photos, sewing. Anything I could get my hands on that had to do with art. It wasn’t until I picked up a metal jewelry book that I finally realized my true passion and future.

As a self taught jeweler, I am able to take my handiness with tools and passion for art/fashion and turn sterling silver, gold, copper, brass, PVC and other elements into one-of-a-kind, wearable art that is created completely by hand.

“What would happen if technology died?” This question is the focus of my work causing me to constantly challenge not only my skills as a metalsmith but my theories on art with functionality. With this idea I try to take alternative ways to design such as using books on barb wire to inspire forms for chains or looking at machines for mechanical connections.

Reusing material is crucial to my process. This helps not only prevent the waste of material but creates another challenge by using what you have, this is why I save all my scrap metal and melt it down to create more metal. PVC has become a material that I have recently added to my art. By drilling and riveting the PVC I try and add an industrial feeling to something that gives the visual appearance of bone but really is industrial itself. I thrive on the idea of bringing nature and industry together.

I also oxidize my jewelry to add to the primitive feel and idea of creating jewelry or art for a post-apocalyptic time period.

Every piece of wearable art is One Of A Kind, I do not duplicate items but will create new work inspired by others.

I currently live in Lincoln, Nebraska with my amazing boyfriend/slave laborer and our 3 year old boxer/studio dog "India". When we aren't busy working in my studio you will find us out on an adventure with some shenanigans.
